Ceibor (Kapok) is the fruit fiber of woody plant. It is a kind of natural, wide cellulose fiber which can dispel wind and dampness and relieve pain.
The scientific research and test of authority have shown that the serial products made of CEIBOR reserve all the natural characteristics of kapok fibers including super light, super comfortable, super soft, naturally hollow, ecologically antiseptic, mouldproof, moisture absorbent, moisture conductive, anti-acarid, anti-static, no pilling, etc. Ceibor is the thinnest, lightest fiber in the natural fibers with highest percentage of hollow volume. Its fineness is only 1/2 of that of cotton fiber. Percentage of hollow volume reaches 80%min.(see the picture).
 
  
Basic properties of Ceibor fiber
1, Physical properties
The vertical appearance of ceibor is cylindrical, lustrous and smooth. Its section is round or oval. Fiber fineness: 0.4 ～ 0.7dtex, density of single fiber: 0.29g /cm3, but the density of single fiber of cotton: 1.53g /cm3, percentage of hollow volume in fiber: 80 %～ 90 %.
Crystallinity of ceibor: 33 %, of flax: 69 %, of cotton: 54 %.
Polymerization degree of ceibor: about 10,000, which is equivalent to that of cotton fiber.
Moisture regain of ceibor: 10.73%, which is equivalent to that of mercerized cotton(10.6% ).
Mean refractive index of ceibor : 1.71761.
2, Chemical properties
Ceibor fiber contains about 64 % cellulose, about 13% lignin, 8.6 % water content, 1.4% ～ 3.5% ash content, 4.7% ～ 9.7% water-soluble substance, 2.3% ～ 2.5% xylan and 0.8% waxy substance.
Exhaustion rate of ceibor: 63% .
Ceibor fiber is soluble in 75 % sulphuric acid below 30 °C, 65 %nitric acid below 100 °C, partly soluble in 35 % hydrochloric acid below 100 °C.
